Sad But True, Discontinued in Review, But A Few Gems Still Available!
Crazy About You
In my opinion, certain Stampin' Up! products should never be discontinued due to their versatility and essential staple qualities. Like a circle, a star and banner offer a standard shape, which works for projects surrounding graduations, birthdays, celebrating extra ordinary accomplishments, and a host of other events.
In addition, with a quality typecast font of the sentiments in Crazy For You, also a craftroom staple, should never be discontinued! Likewise, the Hello You Thinlits--again STAPLES! The only reason these items should meet their demise is in the case they are replaced with a similar item. Who does not need a die cut thanks, hello, happy, or you. Seriously!!!
If sales fall below a certain expectation, give them a boost with an Artisan feature on a regularly rotating basis...
I am grieving here!
One ray of sunshine, (Sunburst Thinlits also on the chopping list), on my very cloudy mood is the Brushstrokes Background Stamp is not going!!! HOORAY!
On to the card... An Inlay technique (click on link to view) was used, which I learned from the talented Jennifer McGuire, my papercrafting Sensei!
Instead of her heart, I used a the above featured Star above in Daffodil Delight Cardstock and the thanks sentiment in Basic Black Cardstock. The background stamp was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Whisper White Cardstock.
A few layered Banners, stapled together, sits to the right of the card in Vellum, Real Red, and Dapper Denim Cardstock.
You Rock is heat embossed with White Embossing Powder on a couple of scraps of Basic Black Cardstock, which I coated with Glossy Accents and popped up on a point of the star. A few Black Metallic Sequins provides a finishing touch.
In this card the same background stamp, stamped in Versamark, and sentiment die cut, in Soft Suede Cardstock, is used. Soft Sky Cardstock serves as the cardbase.
The layers include the Occasions Catalog Lace Doilies (Gone), a Very Vanilla Lots of Labels cutout, with multiple heat embossed gold bees from the Dragonfly Dreams Stamp Set, and a bundle of twisted Gold Thread.
Next, a Vellum Scalloped Circle sits below a Soft Sky Circle Frame and the thanks, which is heat embossed in gold on the bottom edge finishes the focal point. Finally, a few gold Metallics Sequins adds a touch of bling.
I hope my projects have inspired you to add a few of these destined to be retired items to your own crafting stash so your future projects will continue to bring a new gamut of possibilities to these stupendous staples!
