Global Design Project #GDP083 Sparkles/ Bling Theme

Remarkable You

Thank you for stopping in to check out this weeks Global Design Project!

I selected the Remarkable You Stamp Set in which to add a little sparkle and bling!

While this set will not be retiring, the gorgeous Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper will retire with the 2016-2017 catalog and can be purchased at a discount while supplies last!

Two floral images were stamped on White Shimmer Cardstock in VersaMark and heat embossed in White provided little wells to watercolor a wash of Blushing Bride ink.

Next, I cut the panel down with my Stampin' Trimmer, leaving a few of the flowers' petals intact and jetting past the cut lines. I then layered the Shimmer White panel to a larger panel of Basic Black Cardstock.

A heat embossed image was duplicated on Basic Black Cardstock. To the fussy cut image, I added dimensionals, which popped up the the contrasting bloom while a bit of glimmer and glossy accents generated even more dimensional shimmer!

The layered floral panel was attached to a Thick Very Vanilla top folding cardbase. Using Blushing Bride Shimmer Paper, I cut down two strips, one slightly thicker than the other and attach them to the sides of the floral panel.

The Basic Black fishtail banner fixed to the lower left side of the card offered a great contrast for the white heat embossed sentiment.

Timeless Tags Thinlits Dies offers a beautiful spray of butterflies and when cut from Blushing Bride Shimmer Paper added an extra array of shimmer to my project.

Sadly, the That's the Tag Stamp Set and the Thinlit Dies in the That's The Tag Bundle will expire with the Occasions Catalog after May 31st.  My grief is deep concerning the loss of another fantastic bundle that is leaving the stage before its time! Take a peek at some of my other blog posts in which I continue to rant and rave about some of my other favorite retiring items...Sad days:(

Lastly, the inside was simply stamped with the same floral image as used on the front of the card, but a second generation stamping was used in Blushing Bride and the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

Retiring! Retiring! Retiring! Basket of Bunch

Sad But True, Discontinued in Review, But A Few Gems Still Available

Basket of Bunch Bundle

On the retiring list lies another bundle...Rest in Peace Basket Bunch Bundle!

While I can wrap my head around the fact that Easter has passed for 2017, this set has so much more than Easter! Where am I going to go for grass and the amazing basket elements from this set?! This could be a set that does not retire and with it a daffodil that blooms all year round and not just in Spring! GEEZ...In my world, THANKS A BUNCH or YOU MADE MY DAY or MAY ALL YOUR CHOCOLATE BE SOLID never dies! By the way, who does not need a carrot from time to time--me that's who!

With all of that off my chest...On to the project!

I have all males in my house with the exception of myself.  My husband, three adult boys (only two still home), my dog, and my cat--all males. With this as my reality, I really cannot package my Easter goodies in soft, beautiful hues. Do you get me? Hence, my color palette for all the men in my life!

I have included some Neutrals Designer Series Paper (Retiring!!! Oh come on Stampin' Up!--you are killing me here!) Also included, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, and Whisper White Cardstocks.

Basic Gray and Smoky Slate Classic Stampin' Pads offers coordinating stamped sentiments and the basket details.

A little black and white bow, which is similar to the Baker's Basic Black Baker's Twine adds a special little something. Let me not forget the watercolored Easter eggs made with an Aqua Painter and a variety of blended colors on Watercolor Paper! Sooo Cute and a feminine touch!

Favorite candy bars made tasty treats and decorated using the Cheerful Tags Framelits and the Basket Builder Framelits Dies...wait for it...Retiring:(

What...the Cheerful Tags Framelits too!!! Sad days!

The carrot was stamped in Pumpkin Pie and Wild Wasabi, die cut, popped up and layered multiple times with Glossy Accents to add even extra dimension.

Retiring! Retiring! Retiring! Crazy About You

Sad But True, Discontinued in Review, But A Few Gems Still Available!

Crazy About You

Can I just say how incredibly sad I am right now!  There are so many elements in the above card that are staples in my craftroom!  The Star Framelits--Going! The Banner Framelits--Going! The Hello You Thinlits--Going! The Crazy About You Stamp Set--Going! The Handheld Stapler--Gone! Metallics Sequin Assortment--Going! All of the above mentioned items--on the Retiring List!

In my opinion, certain Stampin' Up! products should never be discontinued due to their versatility and essential staple qualities.  Like a circle, a star and banner offer a standard shape, which works for projects surrounding graduations, birthdays, celebrating extra ordinary accomplishments, and a host of other events.

In addition, with a quality typecast font of the sentiments in Crazy For You, also a craftroom staple, should never be discontinued!  Likewise, the Hello You Thinlits--again STAPLES!  The only reason these items should meet their demise is in the case they are replaced with a similar item. Who does not need a die cut thanks, hello, happy, or you.  Seriously!!!

If sales fall below a certain expectation, give them a boost with an Artisan feature on a regularly rotating basis...

I am grieving here!

One ray of sunshine, (Sunburst Thinlits also on the chopping list), on my very cloudy mood is the Brushstrokes Background Stamp is not going!!! HOORAY

On to the card... An Inlay technique (click on link to view) was used, which I learned from the talented Jennifer McGuire, my papercrafting Sensei!

Instead of her heart, I used a the above featured Star above in Daffodil Delight Cardstock and the thanks sentiment in Basic Black Cardstock.  The background stamp was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Whisper White Cardstock.

A few layered Banners, stapled together, sits to the right of the card in Vellum, Real Red, and Dapper Denim Cardstock.

You Rock is heat embossed with White Embossing Powder on a couple of scraps of Basic Black Cardstock, which I coated with Glossy Accents and popped up on a point of the star.  A few Black Metallic Sequins provides a finishing touch.

In this card the same background stamp, stamped in Versamark, and sentiment die cut, in Soft Suede Cardstock, is used.  Soft Sky Cardstock serves as the cardbase.

The layers include the Occasions Catalog Lace Doilies (Gone), a Very Vanilla Lots of Labels cutout, with multiple heat embossed gold bees from the Dragonfly Dreams Stamp Set, and a bundle of twisted Gold Thread.

Next, a Vellum Scalloped Circle sits below a Soft Sky Circle Frame and the thanks, which is heat embossed in gold on the bottom edge finishes the focal point. Finally, a few gold Metallics Sequins adds a touch of bling.

I hope my projects have inspired you to add a few of these destined to be retired items to your own crafting stash so your future projects will continue to bring a new gamut of possibilities to these stupendous staples!

Retiring! Retiring! Retiring! Help Me Grow

Sad But True, Discontinued In Review, But A Few Gems Are Still Available!

Helping Me Grow

Oh say it is not so... I do not want to lose Helping Me Grow!!! Grab this stunning set before it is too late! This Photopolymer Stamp set has been in my Stampin' Stash for only two months! This was my first project! I am not done working its wonder!

I am literally crying inside...deep sobbing...trying to catch my breath...are you seeing this pathetic picture! NO! NO! NO! we will not let this one go! Oh dread...

This card was a class project in which there was a stepping up example shared with my dear stamping friends.

Watercoloring was completed with the use of Aqua Painters and Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, and Wisteria Wonder Classic Stampin' Pads. Initially, the Whisper White card base was stamped in Versafine Black and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.

The same was done on a watercolor panel, but Sahara Sand was used to create a no-lines watercoloring effect. However, my sample does show the lines due to stamping the image three times.  Stamping the outline image only once would create more of a no-lines watercolor look.

Once the painting was finished, a Layering Circles Framelit was used to cut out a large portion of the painted image.  The watercolor image was lined up on top of the black and white image, with the you are amazing sentiment stamped in the lower left corner, and popped up.

The inside is stamped with I AM Much More Me When I'm With You.  Cute, huh?

The stepped up version was completed on a single piece of Whisper White Cardstock, which was framed by Black and Perfect Plum Cardstock, and adhered to a Thick Whisper White top folding Card base. Alternatively, the panel was heat embossed using Black Versafine Ink and Clear Embossing Powder, and the circle die cut was colored with Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pens then popped up.

In hindsite, I should have used Thick Whisper White or Shimmery White Cardstock as my final image buckled in spots due to the moisure.

I do not have any of the Many Marvelous Markers and used a Y11 Pale Yellow Copic Marker to color around the floral image and the Sunshine sentiment. You are my was stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed in White Embossing Powder on Black Cardstock.

Next, a touch of shimmer was added to the entire portion of the colored blossom and die cut sunshine. Lastly, a final coating of Glossy Accents added to anything yellow finished off the card.

Luckily, the Sunshine die cut, part of the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits set, will not be retiring! However, the Sunshine Bundle with a 10% savings will no longer be available in the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog! Instead, the Stamp Set and Thinlits will be sold separatley! Do not hesitate and buy this bundle today and save!

Retiring! Retiring! Retiring! Oh So Succulent Bundle

Sad But True, Discontinued In Review, But A Few Gems Still Available!
Oh So Succulent Bundle

Let me get the gripe session out of the way first! I am coming on my first year anniversary with Stampin' Up! The Occasions Catalog was one of my firsts in line of many first experiences with Stampin' Up! I would like to talk about a few of those firsts as hard lessons.

The Occasions Catalog was phenomenal! I reference it in the past tense due to many of the items in this catalog that are no longer available even though the Catalog dates carry through to May 31, 2017.

If I could have my wish, the retiring of this Spring catalog would not see the light of day so soon.  In addition, with so many amazing products, how wonderful it would be to have the retirement of items and suites stagger with the end of each event, holiday, or season they represent!
My Events that were planned through May with coordinating celebrations that have yet to arrive, will need new ideas and planning around other options. Suites that have sold out, unfortunately, become a personal loss of time and money. In addition, my customers, planning and budgeting each months purchases up to May 31, lose too!  Sad days...

To review, If I could have a wish, a wish that came true, more of the Seasonal products would became permanent staples of Stampin' Up!, instead of seeing there end so soon!

However, in our ever faster moving society and culture, it is out with the old and in with the new...Before, I move too quickly with the shiny and new, let us take one last glimpse of the Oh So Succulent Bundle.

While the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper is no longer available, the Oh So Succulent Bundle has yet to met its tragic end!  This set has inspired my creative prowess even before the products fell into my little hands!  I so wish this suite stayed a while longer!  I am not done with all the potential this Suite could bring to my future projects! That goes for Suites that have left the stage like the Special Reason Bundle, and the nothing else like it, Nailed it Bundle! Parting is so, so bitter and not at all sweet!--Sorry, I guess my gripe session has yet to pass...

With this lovely set, I surrounded a circle punched A2 size Thick Whisper White card front with an assortment of colored succulent blossoms. The entire top panel is popped up, as well as a few of the succulent plants, adding some interest and dimension. This rich bouquet, surrounds a blended background and various Thanks sentiments from a selection of stamp sets in my stash. Each Thanks has been stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed in white.

Farewell my sweet Oh So Succulent Bundle, Sealed With Love Bundle, Special Reason Bundle, and others!
