Crafting for Christmas

Treat Boxes Galore!

With an assortment of chocolates, why not create a variety of boxes!

Who doesn't need a little chocolate in their lives? Here is a selection of Hersey Nugget hinge boxes containing individually wrapped chocolate goodies.

Stampin' Up! provides an assortment of stamp sets and dies inspiring an array of creative expression!

Beginning at the top, the Harvest Hellos Bundle (153037) and a retired Designer Series Paper (DSP), as well as blended backgrounds with a retired stencil, small Very Vanilla (144237) belly bands, Linen Thread (104199), Crushed Curry (131199) and Pumpkin Pie (105117) Cardstocks, and the aid of my sewing machine provided a treat container perfect for Fall.

Next, the Perfectly Plaid Bundle (151143)Wrapped in Plaid 6 x 6 DSP (149596), the Tailored Tag Punch (145667), and a few coordinating belly bands also offered great inspiration for another 3D display.

The same DSP along with a little bit or retired Holiday DSP also offers a backdrop to a mixture of poises with poke-a-dot (149596), plaid (149596), and Glimmer (146958) filled centers.

I finally put The Stamp Market 's 3D Posie Dies to good use! After cutting a few circles out with my BigShot, I grabbed and used a few circle punches, which made an easy job of turning out multiple flower toppers.

The next 2019 Holiday Stamp Set called From Our house To Yours (150504) and a the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set (150513) took a non-traditional turn to the an approaching Very Merry Holidays in Pretty Peacock (150880) and Crumb Cake (120953) Cardstocks. In addition, the houses and sentiment came together using Clear (109130) and Black (146956) Stampin' Emboss Powder.

For a little variety and off the Holiday theme, a coffee inspired candy box finishes my crafty assortment.

While the set above is created with a set of retired DSP, a couple of current items are used.

They include a selection of hearts cut from Real Red Cardstock with a die from the Stitched to Be Mine Set (148527), a layer of Garden Green (102484) and Whisper White (100730) Cardstocks cut from the StarBurst Punch (143717), and a combination of regular and scallop Circles from the Layering Circles Die Set (141705) in Early Espresso (119686), retired Soft Sky, and Whisper White (100730) Cardstocks.

The Paper Pixie provide an easy to follow tutorial that I used to create the box bases and can be found at the following YouTube link

Hopefully, you can find some time to create one of a kind treats to pass out to your friends, family, coworkers, or any special person in your life this Holiday Season.

2019 Stampin' Up! Holiday Open House

Making a Little Holiday Cheer!

One of the items scheduled for my Christmas Open House next week is this fun Hand Cream Shadow Box created by The Paper Pixie.

This little box is perfect for a small gift intended for that special someone in your life!

I created a handful of decorative sleeves with Designer Series Paper (DSP) from last year's Holiday stash. I am finally getting through some of my supply. This set is called Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper (147816).

Hang tight, later this week I will feature some of this year's fantastic DSP.

The shadow box is created to hold a tube of lotion from Bath & Body Works.

I have an assortment ready for picking.

A number of selected Stampin' Up! stamps and dies are featured in this collection.

One of the decorative focal images is created with The Stamp Markets 3-D Posie Dies

I created a number of posies that will be featured in a later post and found it much easier to punch out a selection of assorted circle with various Circle Punches.

A sprig of Chrismas Layers (150654/153019) in Garden Green (102584) and embellished with Nuvo Crystal Gloss Red Berry Drops sits on top of a Stitched Whisper White Circle (145372) with a Black Heat Embossed (146956) message from the Cup of Christmas Stamp Set (150491).

The current Perfectly Plaid Bundle (151143) is featured above. A negative image cut from a hand painted Stitched Circle (145372) stripe background serves as a holding place for a sentiment from the Christmas Gleaming Stamp Set (150464/153006). A bow of Magnolia Lane Ribbon (149485) makes a debut too.

The above shadow box highlights the 2018 HomeTown Greeting Edgelits (144671) in the form of an interactive shaker window.

A Copper Embossed (141636) sentiment form the Itty Bitty Chrismas Stamp Set (150513/153019) adorns the package tied with my favorite Linen Thread (104199).

The color scheme was a cinch as I used the CardStock colors featured in the DSP: Gray Granite, Merry Merlot, Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, Tranquil Tide (Retired), and Whisper White.

A Wild Rose Label Framlit (149547)offered a perfect size and shape to ground each embellished feature.

Sentiments are from the Itty Bitty Christmas (150513/153019), Itty Bitty Greetings (146667), and Tiny KeepSakes (150460/152390)

Other images come from the Beautiful Boughs Dies (1450661), last years Alpine Sports Thinlits (147916), an even older Thinlit set called Trim Your Stockings (144682), and a 1/2" punched circle (119869) with the small snowflake center.

A couple of Jingle Bells (149598) tied with Linen Thread (104199) offers a festive touch too!

I wanted to create a chalkboard theme as well. A perfect assortment of an odd number of snowflakes cut from the 2018 Thinlits Set Snowfall (149692) created a balanced display.

The sentiment arrives form the Peaceful Boughs Stamp Set (150531/153033) and a few Pretty Pink Posh Clear Sequins finishes this humble scene.

I still have one last box to adorn with holiday cheer...a papercrafter's crafting is never done 😁

Thanks for stopping by and if you are in my local area and want to attend my upcoming 2019 Christmas Open House on October 20th send me a message!

Stay tuned for another project planned for the event on Thursday!

Coffee Anyone?

A Fall Blast From My Past

This project was created for a past Fall inspired class. There is heat embossing, a vignette ink blending technique, die cutting, use of a Gel Press, and Designers Series Paper (DSP).

The project started with a Thick Whisper White A-2 Card Base. A sentiment from the retired Coffee Cafe Stamp Set (143677) was heat embossed in white followed by ink blending over the heat embossed words.

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) used is a retired set called Coffee Break. As a demonstrator, I would buy DSP packs regularly, but rarely used them. I have started to bring out some goodies from years past and incorporated them more and more.

Using a 5X7 Gel Press and Early Espresso ink on Crumb Cake Cardstock a uniquely coffee drenched textured impression left behind offered a perfect option in which to die cut the darker frames, coffee cups, and leaves.

It was difficult to capture the texture and dimension in the photo, but you may be able to see a little hint of it in the cup above with the Crumb Cake sleeve and leaves on the pumpkin.

The Pumpkins and leaves are also from a retired Holiday Die set called Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits Dies (144670).

The color scheme in these cards includes Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Garden Green, Island Indigo (Retired), Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky (Retired), Soft Suede, Tangerine Tango (Retired), and Whisper White,

While I have been a collector for over 3 years now, I have hardly used all the items I have decorating the shelves of my craft studio. I am trying to remedy this by using items that I have and that may not be in current Stampin' Up! Catalogs.

I encourage you, too, to take those items off the shelf collecting dust and make something new.

As far as this project goes, coffee never goes out of style.

I hope you take out some of those items that you have in your stash and bring them back by giving them a renewed life and look on your next project.

Use what you have and if you are just starting out as a collector of all things papercrafting, Stampin' Up! often has a new item that is similar. That also goes for a beverage card or a similar retired ink color featured here.

A few more of the retired items are an embossing folder called Garden Trellis (143741), Marbled Background Stamp (143755/144772), and the Lots of Labels Framelits (138281).

The color scheme here includes Basic Gray, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Flirty Flamingo, Island Indigo (Retired), Tangerine Tango (Retired), and Whisper White.

Currently you can find a darling Tea Set called Tea together (148779) and the coordinating Tea Time Dies (149697). There is always something new to foster inspiration.

If you need any basic items like cardstockink, or a set of must have basic shape dies like Layering Ovals (141706) or Squares (141708) visit my online store.

Thank You for stopping by!

Giving Thanks

Happy Fall and World Cardmaking Day Y'ALL

The trees are changing color and the air is crisp and cool! Fall is here!

Fall is one of my favorite seasons. I love finally turning off the air conditioning and opening all the windows. There is something magical about fall for me and I almost wish it was my all year round season.

I say that knowing if it there was no other season but fall all year round, it would not be as special. I guess it is best to leave it like it is...one small part of the year.

This card was a fun inspiration from a Pier 1 table setting I came across as I looked through a sales brochure. While I brought a few retired items to create the seen above, there are a few currently available goodies in this card too.

Pick a Pumpkin Bundle (144670) is one of the retired sets featuring the pumpkins and a few of the colorful die cut picks.

The Give Thanks sentiment also is from last years Creativity Delivered 2017 Holiday Catalog. It is from the Label to Love Stamp Set (144970).

The current items include the Tropical Die Set (146831), Stitched Rectangles (148551), Stitched Shapes (145372), Wild Rose (149547), Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder (152320), and the Buffalo Check Background Stamp (151372). Each of these items can be found in the Creativity Is Calling 2019-2020 Annual Catalog.

The one set debuting form the Creativity Is Calling 2019 Holiday Catalog is the Peaceful Boughs Bundle (153033).

Thick Whisper White Cardstock (140272) formed the A-2 card base and set the backdrop for black and gold splatters.

The spatters were added by flicking the tips from a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker (100082) and a Spectrum Noir Gold Sparkle Brush off their caps. I have used other methods to add splatter marks to a project and was surprised at the amount of control this method offers.

Next, Basic Black Cardstock (121045) was given a wooden look and cut down to a perfect rectangle to host the buffalo check in Memento Black (132708) and the fall arrangement.

The cardstock colors include Call me Clover (146969), (Crushed Curry (131199), Granny Apple Green (146990), Terracotta Tile (150884),Retired Lemon Lime Twist (144245) and Retired Cucumber Crush (138335).

Granny Apple Green (147095), Mango Melody (147093) and Memento Black  (132708) are the inks that colored the pumpkins and sentiment focal point.

I hope you enjoyed the colorful fall card!

Leave me a note letting me know your favorite season?

Here is a look at one other special treat I enjoyed on World Cardmaking Day...

This special treat is a French Toast Bowl with Carmel Sauce and Toasted Candied Pecans! The cubes of bread come from my husband's homemade multigrain bread! This dish, one of his own creations, was truly sublime! Delicioso!!!

Come back soon to see what my husband and I are creating in the Tattered Shoes Designs Studio and our family kitchen!

Sending You a Cup of Cheer

Cup of Christmas Bundle

This sweet card started with a piece of cardstock covered in a plethora of negative poinsettia cut outs that I saved from a project last year. I could not bear to throw the sheet away and just knew I could something with it.

I pulled it out and used my Picket Fence Studio Blender Brushes to blend a mixture of Blushing Bride (147100), Daffodil Delight (147094), and Rococo Rose (150080)

The blending created a soft background gently breaking up all the white.

The Christmas mug was also stamped in Rococo Rose (150080) using the striped image in the Tiny Keepsakes Stamp Set (152390)

The Holly and Candy Cane are part of the Cup of Cheer Dies (153025), which can be purchased as part of the Cup of Christmas Bundle. Staying with the pinkie theme, the berries and candy cane came from Blushing Bride Cardstock (131198).

The snowflake is part of the Seasonal Layers Dies (143751) and the frame came from the Stitched Rectangles (148551).

The other accent colors are Smoky Slate (131202) and Shaded Spruce (146981 & 147088)

The perfect whipped topping is from the retired die set Call Me Cupcake (150072).

If you would like to create a similar project, shop my online store for all your supplies.

A Little Bit of 3D Christmas

A Little Bit of Christmas in July September

Here is a handful of projects completed last year!

While I primary tend to lean toward card making, I do a one time a year Christmas project class.

I scan Facebook, Pinterest, and other sites for inspiration of fun 3D projects.

Stampin' Up! demonstrators and other papercrafter are a well of fun options!

The Boozy Hot Cocoa from PinkBukaroo is probably one of my favorites💞🎄

I also created Ghirardelli Square Boxes by Linda Bauwin found on YouTube.

The tags galore I fashioned from Stampin' Up! products.

A variety of tags offered inspiration for the class attendees...

Each tag came from the 2018 Stampin' Up! assorted catalogs.

I stayed with a fairly traditional color scheme.

Next, are a selection of individual tea bag holders inspired by a YouTube video created by Kylie Bertucci.

Designer Series Paper (DSP) played center stage for these simple treats.

(This may have been a retired set as it has taken me some time to incorporate DSP into my crafting.)

A mixture of tags added a fun twist.

A little bow held the tea bag in place.

Layering an assortment of tags added a new look.

Wrapped Hersey Nugget Treats is currently a staple to my 3D Christmas Project class.

Some of these tags came from talented crafters that shared their inspiration online with the Universe

(While I have credited some of the creations I am posting, I am afraid my memory does not allow giving all the individual create due as these are projects from last year 😔)

Others came from a diversity of Holiday decor found in and out of my surrounding...

And still others came from old fashion playing with the supplies and noticing something new.

Following a creative play session in my craft studio, I was left with a large pile of scraps...

Tags! Of course! The small images of a heart, tree, and present created a perfect focal point!

I simply glued scraps of Designer Series Christmas Paper to a piece of Whisper White Cardstock in Tetris fashion. Each scrap connected with another until the whole sheet was covered. Once the glue dried, I used dies to cut out the images.

Sewing them to the Stitched Crumb Cake Circles, instead of adhering with glue, offered a home made quilting vibe.

Here are a few more variations.

Pompoms in Christmas decor also made their way into my Christmas crafting...Just Cute!

A little bit of tradition still holds fast along side an out of ordinary array of colors used in these tags.

After searching long and wide for a tutorial on creating a custom sized box, I finally came across Connie Stewart's Simple Stamping Box Making Shim and Custom Box Making videos. How fabulous!

Some came with Pompoms and some with Ribbon, but both sets come with a customizable box!

I continued the same color scheme for these coffee tags.

These tags garnished my annual homemade cookie boxes that I delivered.

As Christmas approached, I returned to a traditional color selection with these three money pouches I created for my nephews.

Another project came from a class I attended in the summer of last year. As soon as the the 2018 Stampin' Up! Holiday arrived, I was inspired to create a Christmas project.

The Designer Series Paper and Christmas ribbon offered the color selections.

Following a search, I also located the tutorial offered by Teri's Stampin' Magic.

I created a couple of variations of this project, but only photographed this one.

Finally, one last creations to wrap up my 2018 Christmas smorgasbord (which does not include my cards)...

A Christmas buffalo check garland perfect for a mini Christmas tree.

There is so much inspiration out there!

I am thankful to share in the talent and creativity of others that provide fun projects that I in turn can share.

I hope I have been able to pass on some inspiration to you too!

Currently, I am preparing for my 2019 Christmas in October Open House. I am back at scouring the Internet for ideas and inspiration and looking forward to sharing what I find soon.
