Global Design Project 075

Thank You--You are Amazing with the Love & Affection Stamp Set

I finally used the Love & Affection stamp set I have in my stash to create a card in a series of Thank You cards for an upcoming class.  I certainly will use this stamp set again soon!  I am a bit of a floral addict and I love the building potential this set offers.  I did not originally plan to use a winged creature in this card, but the black and yellow color scheme in the background called for a little whimsy and the addition of the hovering bee.
My original design spun off an idea of creating layers with the Neutrals Designer Series Paper stack with the envelop from the Love Notes Framelits Die Set and the dimensional design from the Petal Burst embossing folder.  I am so excited by those little envelopes! The double sided DSP creates such a cute package with the mix of script and polka dots! In addition, the Suite Sentiment and All Things Thanks Stamp Sets in the Occasions catalog displays the perfect sentiment for the intended Thank You Card using Archival Basic Black Ink.  I do love letting those who touch my life know how amazing they are!  Ultimately, this project did not come from a perfect image in minds eye, but evolved with a new element joining the others as I went along the creative process.
The final design became a collaboration of two separate inspired ideas, which I grounded with the offset Basic Black and Gray borders.  Outside of the pop of Daffodil Delight, I desired to create balance and transition with the Neutral color combination.  Little touches using a light spray of Black Thread and detailed stitching peeks out from the trio of circles that I layered on top of the Basic Black banner fishtailed using the Banner Triple Punch.

Global Design Project #GDP074

Global Design Project 074 Entry

Global Design Project 074 | Sketch Challenge

Today, I am playing along with the Global Design team.  I created a card project using the sketch above as inspiration. Click on the link below the sketch to see the designers amazing projects and all the other entries!  I normally focus on one or two elements and go off the cuff with my creations. This time I stayed fairly true to the example.

I did not have the Stampin' Up! Diagonal Stripe background stamp, but used a similar background stamp to create the diagonal stripes on my card using Versa Mark, which created a tone on tone backdrop on the Mint Macaron Cardstock.
I used my Bigshot to cut out two Lots of Labels. The two labels, one in vellum and the second using Irresistibly Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper, created the extended tag.
I then layered a Stitched Shapes black circle to create not only a focal point, but a way to showcase the soft colors in the blended Sunshine Wishes heart that holds the gold embossed So Happy For You banner.  The blended heart was also created using the same floral DSP used in the tag.
One small stitched circle in vellum is popped up below the banner and displays the linked rings found in the Iconic Occasions Host Stamp Set.  The rings are embossed in gold and create the theme for this card!
Instead of the bow, I used Metallic Thread in gold and a few gold Sequins to embellish the card.
A little added tidbit--My husband did not like the placement of the small vellum circle.  He felt like it was offsetting. What do you think?

Join me again next week for a new project!

Global Design Project #GDP073

I created a simple watercolor background, which I layered with the gorgeous Detailed Floral Thinlits cutout from Whisper White Cardstock for the Global Design Project 073 color challenge.  My colors included Daffodil Delight, Emerald Envy, and Watermelon Wonder.  Additionally, I included the softer hue of Flirty Flamingo to the floral images. To finish the card I added the love sentiment from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits stacked three high for a touch of dimension.  Two of the layers are in Watermelon Wonder and the top love in Emerald Envy.

One more little tidbit.  I created a video of this project, which you can view once I learn how to upload it to You Tube and then link it.  However, I have to add a disclaimer...It is my very first video!  I do not have the proper equipment or the ability to edit, ugh!  It is way too long and the camera I used kept refocusing!  It is a little painful to watch!  None the less, with my vice for plenty of room for improvement, you can complete the project in the comfort of your own creative space in real time!  I am a work in progress people;)  Plus, my husband told me, after watching the video, I need a good manicure!!!

Global Design Project 073 | Color Challenge

Unfortunately, I created this blog site after posting to the color challenge.  My photo entered into the challenge was uploaded from Instagram.  Like I said, I am a work in progress.  I would also love to know an easier and cleaner way to attach the items used in the project.  Until next time...
